1. Who we are

GYLL ("GYLL", "we", "us") is a Yorùbá language-learning app operated by Reflex System. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. If you have questions, contact us at info@yorubadunka.com.

2. Learning as a guest — data stays on your device

By default, GYLL works entirely without an account. Your profile, XP, hearts, streak, lesson and vocabulary progress, achievements, unlocked cultural cards, and settings are stored locally on your device using your browser's IndexedDB storage. None of this leaves your device, and we have no access to it, unless you choose to create an account.

If you uninstall the app or clear your browser/site data, this local data is permanently lost — we cannot recover it, since we never had a copy.

3. Creating an account

If you choose to sign up (by email and password, an emailed sign-in link, or Google sign-in, where available), we collect your email address and, for password sign-in, a password — which we never see or store in plain text; it is handled entirely by our authentication provider, Supabase, using industry-standard hashing.

Once you're signed in, the same learning data described in section 2 (progress, XP, streak, achievements, settings, etc.) is synced from your device to a Supabase-hosted database so it can follow you across devices and survive a reinstall. This data is scoped to your account with database-level access controls (Row Level Security), so only your own signed-in session can read or write it.

We do not sell your personal information, and we don't share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

4. Advertising and analytics

As of this writing, GYLL does not integrate any third-party advertising SDK or analytics SDK — the in-app "watch an ad for a reward" and analytics-event code exist as internal placeholders with no external network calls, and used only in-app. If we integrate a real ad or analytics provider in the future, we will update this policy first to disclose what that provider collects and how, and this section will name the provider.

5. Children’s privacy

GYLL is made for a general audience — teens and adults — and is not directed at children. Some visual elements, like the avatar options, are colorful and approachable, but that's a stylistic choice; the app's language-learning content, feature set, and marketing are not designed or targeted toward children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, if higher).

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has created an account or provided us personal information without appropriate parental consent, contact us and we will delete it.

6. Your choices and rights

You can review and change most of your data directly in the app (Settings, Profile). You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account & Data — this permanently deletes your Supabase account and every row of data tied to it, and cannot be undone.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information (for example, access, correction, deletion, portability, or objection to processing under Nigeria's NDPA, GDPR, or similar laws). To exercise these rights, contact us at info@yorubadunka.com.

7. Data retention

Local (guest) data persists on your device until you clear it or uninstall the app. Account data persists on our servers until you delete your account (see section 6) or until deletion is otherwise required by law.

8. Security

We rely on Supabase for authentication and database hosting, which provides encryption in transit and at rest, and database-level access controls scoped to each signed-in user. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be highlighted in-app.
